Hi there! Happy Thursday! How’s your summer weather treating you? We’re living in a heat wave this summer it seems, with temperatures peaking over 105 today plus humidity! Yikes!
With all the hot weather, let’s just say I am NOT doing a lot of cooking at my stovetop, or in the oven! We are making burgers at least once or twice a week, and enjoying them so much that I thought I’d share my favorite recipe with you, taken from my cookbook, How To Live Organic: What to Eat for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Star of the Show Grassfed Beef Burgers
Grass fed, and grass finished beef has so much flavor, it doesn’t need any complicated sauces or spices to compliment it. Be careful not to overcook, since grass fed meats cook faster than their grain fed counterparts.
2 lbs organic, grass fed and grass finished ground beef
About 6 oz. organic salsa, medium heat
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 cup organic bread crumbs, optional
1 small chopped onion
Mix all ingredients together well, but don’t over mix.
Form into burgers, and cook on a grill or in a cast iron pan, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Serve in sprouted buns or bread with the following as toppings:
- organic, sliced raw cheese
- organic mayonnaise
- organic mustard
- organic ketchup
- organic lettuce
- organic sliced onions
- organic sliced tomatoes
- raw organic sauerkraut
