How’s your “Fall” weather? Ours feels more like winter, complete with a 28 degree day on Tuesday! Brrrrr!!!
Cold and flu season is officially, OFFICIALLY in full swing, so today I wanted to share with you a recipe for an easy to make natural cough syrup that is great for coughs, sore throats, and even flu. Yes, it’s safe for kids, if you can get them to drink it. 🙂 It’s quite spicy. I would have a child drink a little water chaser afterward. And you can make some in advance, but I typically like to consume it within a week. I personally feel it’s the most effective just after making it 🙂
And remember- the best defense is a GOOD offense. A few easy tips: make sure you’re getting enough sleep, enough Vitamin D, taking a really great probiotic and eating as many fermented foods as you can. But if you feel yourself coming down with something, or you’ve already got it- this simple recipe for homemade cough syrup will have you feeling better in no time!
Recipe For Homemade Cough Syrup: (Recipe originally from Food.com and modified to include organic ingredients!)
2 tablespoons warm/boiling filtered or spring water
2 tablespoons organic, raw honey
1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar like Bragg’s
1/4 tsp. organic ginger powder
1/4 tsp. organic cayenne powder
Mix all together (see instructions in above video) and enjoy 1 tbsp. at a time!
