Why I Love My Instant Pot

I love my Instant Pot because it’s everything I’ve been looking for in a kitchen helper for a long, long time.

It does everything. And by everything, I do mean EVERYTHING. Including being able to go in the dishwasher.

The Instant Pot provides essentially the functionality of the stovetop with the ease and convenience of the slow cooker.

It’s a stovetop, (with pan included!) pressure cooker, and slow cooker all in one.

When the meal is done, the large stainless steel pot insert goes right in the dishwasher.

If I forget to defrost the meat, it’s no problem. The Instant Pot can handle frozen foods like a champ, including frozen chicken, fish, and even ground beef.

I don’t know how I ever lived without it. I use it 2-3 times a day, 7 days a week. I make breakfast, lunch, and dinner in it- and reheat the leftovers in it too!

There have been many nights when it was actually faster to whip up a delicious meal in the Instant Pot than it was to run to a local health food store to buy dinner!

I have the 8 quart model and am thankful for every square inch of space that it has.

While I’ve used a slow cooker for many years, my family always complains that the food is “mushy.” And a slow cooker isn’t known for speed. It requires advance planning (which I often fail to achieve) and it just can’t replicate the taste of something cooked on the stovetop or in the oven. Additionally, I hate the “browning” or “searing” phase most meats require in the slow cooker, prior to being put into the slow cooker. It takes extra dishes and extra work to transfer food from the stovetop to slow cooker.

Not so in the Instant Pot. The sauté setting allows you to perform any browning or sautéing functions right IN the pot. The same pot. So there’s no transferring, no spilling, and only one dish to clean up. (which can go in the dishwasher) 🙂

What do I make in it? The answer is everything.

Eggs, oatmeal, chicken, beef, meatloaf, spaghetti, beef taco meat, chicken taco meat, tortilla soup, spaghetti & meatballs, homemade macaroni & cheese, banana bread, chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes, bell peppers, brown rice, chicken & rice dishes, beans, and SO MUCH more!

Oh, and did I mention that when it’s cooking, it’s completely unattended, leaving me entirely “hands free” to go and do other things. Mostly….to clean up the kitchen, or get outside!

I love my Instant Pot and it’s basically my best friend in the kitchen. Now…if it could only do the dishes…….

I still really like it!!! But I kept breaking the clay pot. The stainless steel insert of the Instant Pot is far more durable and tolerant of abuse 😉 Plus, the Instant Pot is far bigger and much faster!
