Losing Weight With Coconut Oil: A List of Resources For You

Losing Weight With Coconut Oil: A List of Resources For You

By: Catherine Slezinger

As we wrap up our journey into my postpartum weight loss (I just bought a pair of size 4 jeans last Saturday! Woohoo!!!) I thought I’d share with you in a list format some of the resources that really helped me along the way.  I still have a size to go before I meet my goal, but I’m sure happy with the progress I’ve made since August!

Over the last two weeks I’ve shared the four steps I took to lose 4 sizes of baby weight in the last 7 months.  One of the biggest keys for me was taking 2-3 tbsp daily of coconut oil, but I read a LOT about it and why it worked, so I wasn’t conflicted when I was using it! 😉 Since eating coconut oil might go against the grain of everything you’ve always heard your whole life about nutrition, here are some books and articles to steer you in the right direction:

1) Eat Fat Lose Fat by Sally Fallon & Mary Enig. This one was the biggest for me!

2) The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife

3) The Coconut Diet by Cherie Calbom (She recommends 4-6 tbsp per day!)

And the following articles by Dr. Mercola are very helpful also:

I am super excited to start using coconut oil. I just had my first baby 6 months ago and I’m so ready to have this weight gone. I wore a size 4 pre-pregnancy and now I wear an 8. I have a personal trainer that I workout with 4-5 times a week and I’ve cleaned up my diet but still this weight is being stubborn. But I have hope that it will come off and I’m happy to have found your site. 🙂

Hi Nicole! Yes, you can cook with it, definitely! I ate it by the spoonful though so I could know exactly how much I was getting 🙂

I just started taking a TB of nutiva organic, extra virgin coconut oil 2 times a day in my green smoothies and I definitely have more energy! I am very nervous about the extra calories because I do not want to gain weight! Its about 300 plus extra calories a day! Any thoughts??

Hi Holly!! Yes it is, but the calories in extra virgin coconut oil are burned in your body within about 5-10 minutes! For more on this, see my eBook Eat Fat, Get Skinny or Sally Fallon’s book Eat Fat Lose Fat 🙂

Cindy, you can eat it straight of the spoon, or you can put it in smoothies 🙂 Eating it straight off the spoon is the easiest way to know exactly how much you’re getting 🙂
