Happy Valentine’s Day friends!!
What a beautiful day to celebrate the greatest and most important of anything on earth, love. God showed His love for us by giving us Himself, even though it cost Him everything to buy us back. What love could be greater or more intense?
I have been inspired recently by watching the amazing athletes at the 2018 Winter Olympics. One young woman that really caught my eye was the U.S. figure skater Mirai Nagasu, the first U.S. woman in history to land a triple axel jump successfully in an Olympic competition.
As if that weren’t incredible enough, what’s even more amazing is that Mirai was rejected from the USA team in the 2014 Winter Olympics, and considered giving up ice skating at that time. But instead of giving up, she trained harder than ever before, mastering an extremely difficult jump and now setting an historic world record because of it!
One of the reporters I heard quoted her as saying, “Sometimes I look at the ice and I want to run away. Then I say to myself, that is ridiculous! And I get back out there.”
That is what makes a true champion and I think we all need the encouragement to keep pressing on when times get difficult!
I thought you might enjoy watching this short video of her making her record setting jump. May it encourage you to keep going, even when circumstances look entirely hopeless!
With all my heart, (and Happy Valentine’s Day!)
